Somalia and Egypt Sign Historic Defense Agreement to Strengthen Security Cooperation

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud today engaged in bilateral talks with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt at Al-Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo. Following these discussions, the two leaders jointly presided over the signing of a significant defense agreement between Somalia and Egypt, aimed at bolstering security cooperation between the two brotherly nations.

During a joint press conference, President Hassan Sheikh lauded the historic pact as a “testament to a future of common defense against the international terrorism we are combating both at home and abroad.”

He further underscored that the agreement serves as a “blueprint for the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the pursuit of regional, continental, and international peace and security.

President Hassan Sheikh expressed his profound gratitude to President El-Sisi and the people of Egypt for their unwavering support of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
